Open your iPhone photos on any device
HEIC (or HEIF) is the format the iPhone has used by default for several years: it takes up about half the size of a JPG at similar quality, which saves a lot of space on the phone. The problem shows up when sharing: many Windows PCs, editing programs, websites and platforms cannot open HEIC, and the photo simply does not display.
Converting to JPG solves that problem at the root, because JPG is the most compatible image format there is. Once converted, you will be able to upload the photo to any form, attach it to an email, print it at a photo shop or open it on any computer without installing anything extra.
