PNG to JPG: when to convert so your photos weigh less
If a screenshot or photo in PNG weighs several megabytes, converting it to JPG can shrink it drastically. Here's when to do it and when not to.

PNG stores images losslessly, which is great for quality but terrible for weight when it comes to a photograph. That is why a PNG of a photo can weigh several times more than the same content as JPG. Converting it solves size problems when attaching or uploading it.
When it makes sense to switch PNG to JPG
- When the PNG is a photograph and does not need a transparent background.
- When you are going to attach it to an email or upload it to a size-limited form.
- When you want to speed up your website's loading without visible quality loss.
When NOT to
- Logos, icons or graphics with text: PNG keeps sharp edges better.
- Images with a transparent background you will overlay on other elements.
Convert PNG to JPG
Convert PNG to JPG and reduce your images' size.
What happens to transparency?
JPG does not support transparency, so when converting, transparent areas are filled with a background color you choose, usually white. If transparency matters for your image, stay with PNG.
The conversion is instant, watermark-free, and your files are deleted automatically when finished.
